Jeffery Deaver writes very fast-paced thrillers; probably the most prominent characteristic of his writing is the frequent plot twists. The Lincoln Rhyme series, about a paraplegic crime scene investigator, is what I am most familiar with. That series begins with The Bone Collector; I would recommend that as a good place to start if you are interested in reading Jeffery Deaver.
