Carroll Thomas is the pen name of two authors: Carole Shmurak, who also writes mysteries under own name, and Thomas Ratliff, who writes historical books and short stories under his own name. Carole is a former high school science teacher and college professor, and Tom has taught history and English in various Connecticut schools. Both reside in Connecticut. The Matty Trescott books which they co-author have been nominated for the Agatha (Ring Out Wild Bells, 2001, YA mystery) and named Notable Books (The Town on Rambling Creek, 2004) by Writers Notes Magazine.
