In my opinion THE LOST LANGUAGE OF CRANES is wonderful and meaningful and the most important of Leavitt's work. I like the rest of his writing too, but I don't LOVE it the same way.
If you like CRANES, be sure to check out the movie version. It's unusual in that the book set in the U.S. and the movie is set in England. Also amazing performances from Eileen Atkins and Brian Cox.
