Jeff Clark-Meads grew up in a mining community on the edge of Nottingham, England. He was 4 when his father was killed in an accident.
At 11, he was accepted into Bramcote Hills Grammar School where he became deputy head boy. After leaving, he became a junior reporter on a small local newspaper, the Long Eaton Advertiser. During his training there, he was sacked when he refused to leave his trade union but still went on to qualify as a senior journalist faster than anybody else in the history of UK journalism.
After working on regional newspapers in the midlands of England, he moved to London to be news editor at UK music industry trade paper Music Week before becoming european news editor at global trade paper Billboard. Jeff then spent a year as director of communications for record industry trade body The British Phonographic Industry during a government inquiry into the music business before returning to Billboard as international news editor. After a total of nine years with Billboard, Jeff resigned in a row over the company's resistance to the introduction of a trade union into the newsroom.
Jeff now lectures in journalism and public relations at a business college in Brighton on England's south coast as well as writing books, running his public relations agency and writing for several magazines.
