From a review of "Slow Man":
"It is hard to find an admirer of J.M. Coetzee's work who does not think that his best book is DISGRACE, one of the strongest novels of the last quarter-century and, among other things, a masterpiece of misdirection."

I'm one of the readers who does not think Disgrace is his best novel. For me, Waiting for the Barbarians is his masterpiece. It is a novel I enjoyed tremendously.

As a long-time member of the Lofty Readers (the book club Debbie actively participated in, along with her husband Maurie), I will say that Coetzee's "Disgrace" prompted the most interesting discussion we have ever had. Depth of his characters; their relationships and motives. Very provocative.
